Abstract: |
This essay provides an overview of both editions of the book Great City Parks, a case-study-based examination of thirty parks in Europe and North America, covering their history, original site condition, and key figures in their planning and design. It argues that recognition of site context and continuity of post-construction management have been critical to their prosperity. It also suggests that, since their inception, urban parks have been principal components of systems of green urban infrastructure. |
